This
is a tropical environment with a mix of palm trees
and flowers everywhere. We have seen iguana's in
the trees eating flowers. The peacock below was on
the grounds of one of the local hotels.
There
are iguana's in the rocks around the marina, on the
golf courses and in the ponds. The largest we have seen so far was
about 6 feet long.
.
This
particular area is also a crocodile habitat on the
local golf course and we did see it in the water.
This croc is estimated to be 12 to 15 feet long.
Needless to say we kept our distance. There are also turtles
as shown on the left below.
.
The
crocodile habitat contains at least three of these massive animals. On the left
below, this one is appearing to be asleep, enjoying
the hot sunny weather. There is a rumor that in 2008,
a construction worker got too close and was killed
and eaten by one of these croc's. Since this is a
habitat that is well signed, nothing was done about
the incident. In other words the guy should not have
been there!
The
picture on the right is at the Velas hotel which
also doubles as a timeshare and some units are also
owned by the owners. The grounds are beautiful, the
food is excellent and the pools look very inviting.
.
The
beaches are fantastic, great for walking as well
as jumping off a dock as can be seen in these pictures
of Puerto Vallarta beaches.
