We have been to Las Vegas several times this year and so the pictures on this page etc are a summary of our first two trips to Las Vegas this year. Click on Las Vegas-April above to go to the pictures for our third trip. The first time we went was in late Feb. and we stayed at the Palazzo, which is part of the Venation Hotel. The Palazzo is a brand new hotel. Every room is a 755 sq foot suite and decorated with all of the latest gadgets and decor. The Venetian and the Palazzo are actually two separate hotels joined by a mall with high end stores for your shopping pleasure! The pictures below will give you an idea of the extent the hotels go to, to attract customers and create a stunning decor.

The second time we went to Las Vegas was in the middle of March to meet some friends, We stayed at the New York, New York hotel which is one of the older hotels and frankly not that exciting. We stayed there because it was free and spent all of our time at the Wynn hotel were our friends were staying.

While we were waiting for them to show up one day, Carol managed to win the jackpot at one of the slot machines. A cool $1000 dollars on this one. Earlier she won 6400 nickels on another machine!

The city center complex shown on the right is the latest property to be developed and opened. It is huge with at least 5 or 6 towers and has a totally different style to the casino than any other casino hotel in Vegas. A modern contemporary design, however it just does not appeal to us. Too much steel and gray dark colors.

Our friends were staying at the Encore hotel in a suite. The Encore is a sister property to the Wynn Casino. Each of these hotels has over 3000 rooms similar to most of the big hotels in Vegas. The suite was extremely nice and well appointed with even a separate massage room and table should you need to relax at the end of the day. The gardens and the pool are spectacular. Next time we go to Vegas in April we will be staying at the Wynn Hotel.

At Encore there is a restaurant called Switch. This restaurant has a unique attribute in addition to being a 5 star restaurant were steaks are done to perfection and Alaskan King Crab legs are huge. Every 30 minutes the walls and the ceiling will change, providing you with a new view of the restaurant. The ceiling changes from an art deco ceiling to one with huge chandeliers, while the walls go from a tapestry design to a mirrored design and then open to the casino. Amazing!

We are heading to Palm Springs next to spend the rest of our vacation. We will go to Vegas again in April and I will add some more pictures at that time.
