What Everybody Ought To Know ... About Wedding Ring
By Trung
A wedding ring is one of the most essential component during a wedding planning. When choosing a wedding ring the material of the ring, the style of the ring and whether or not to include an engraved sentiment are just a few of the factors to consider.

The first thing you need to know about is the type of material used for the ring. It can be of silver, gold, and platinum. A relative newcomer but increasingly popular is titanium.

Gold is traditionally the most popular choice. It comes in 14 karat, 18 karat, and 24 karat. 18 karat and 24 karat gold are softer and therefore are prone to scratches and damages. As a result they are not suitable for a day-to-day wearing. 14 karat gold is most recommended due to its durability without sacrificing its luster.

Silver is another popular choice because of its low-cost, even though it is softer and, like 18/24 karat gold, is easily scratchable. In addition, silver is also prone to tarnishing and discolorations.

Platinum is a soft metal, but a platinum wedding ring is usually alloyed with a small amount of ruthenium and iridium to make it more durable.

Increasingly becomes more and more popular is titanium. Titanium is the same material used in the space shuttle. It is very light but very durable. Compare to steel, it is almost a half lighter but quite stronger. Because of its strength, a titanium wedding can be suitable for a daily wearing.

After deciding the metal, the next thing is to make your decision on its style. When it comes to styles, more options are available. Flat bands, half-round bands, and comfort-fit bands are the basic styles.

A flat band is rectangular in cross section. These types of bands are also decorated with engravings.

The most traditional style available is the half-round band. It is flat on the underside or against the finger and has an arched structure on the top.

The most expensive style are the comfort-fit bands which feature an oval cross section.

After the selection of material and style, the next step is to decide whether you want your wedding ring to be engraved or not. You can opt to have a jeweler engrave anything you want onto your ring including letters, numbers and symbols. Many couples choose to have their names or initial along with the wedding date engraved on the inside of the ring. It could either be names and the wedding date or a phrase that has significant meaning to the couple.

The wedding ring is a very important piece of jewelry because it is meant to be worn for a lifetime. Shopping for a wedding ring can be a wonderful experience if the couple makes an effort to enjoy the experience instead of stressing about it.
